Protecting the health and safety of our residents is one of the most sacred duties of a County Executive.

Sara is committed to using the tools of county government to tackle the root causes of violent crime, improve health outcomes, especially where there are disparities based on race or family income, provide new healthy activities for our kids, reform the Allegheny County Jail, and expand mental and behavioral health services so our police can focus on solving violent crime.

➜ Unlock over $30 million in annual state matching funds currently available to Allegheny County;

➜ Provide new and expanded drug and mental health treatment services to reduce harm and provide compassionate care to people in need

➜ Invest in a coordinated approach to reducing the Black infant and maternal mortality rate focused on the social determinants of health

➜ Hold healthcare and insurance systems accountable for disparities in access and treatment for Black, Brown, and low-income residents

➜ Protect the right to get an abortion and the right to provide abortions and other reproductive health services

➜ Invest in youth sports and family-friendly recreation accessible to all residents of Allegheny County

➜ Create an inclusive coalition of experts on juvenile justice to provide an action plan on steps towards opening a safe, restorative, trauma-informed space towards divergent pathways for youth

➜ Immediately begin a community process for the hiring of a new warden in coordination with the Allegheny County Jail Oversight Board and other stakeholders
